Furniture Maker offers DIY

This just in via USAToday's rss feed. Interesting. Go to Maine and build a piece of furniture. Do they get to pick the time of year? (Avoiding the bitter cold would be preferable.) Actually, I think my husband would go for this. What about you? Thoughts on the subject? Ah, you can ignore that first part about Kramer, but thought it best to copy in its entirety.

Furniture maker joins do-it-yourself trend

CosmokramerSeinfeld's Cosmo Kramer (left) wanted to start a make-your-own pizza business. We've had make-your-own salad bars for eons. The Build-A-Bear Workshop chain is growing like gangbusters. Newspaper publishers and other media companies are trumpeting user-generated content. Now, a high-end, family-run furniture maker in Auburn, Maine, is inviting customers to, well, make their own furniture.

Thos. Moser, which produces pricey cherry-wood tables, rocking chairs and other goods, has launched a Customer in Residence program, where five long-time customers will spend a week in Maine building furniture and meeting with founder Tom Moser and his family. Five other Moser customers will participate in a second session next month, the company says. Cost: It varies depending on the furniture each participant chooses to build.
